Rev. Dr. Roberta Clare

Rev. Dr. Roberta Clare Roberta Clare holds a doctorate in Education and Religion (Ed.D.) from Columbia University (NYC) and Union Seminary (NYC). A graduate of Knox College, Toronto (M.Div.) and Union Seminary (STM), Roberta has served as a ruling elder, minister, university chaplain, high school teacher, and university instructor.

As director of the Elders' Institute, Roberta oversees the development of online courses, workshops and publications for ruling elders and lay leaders. She travels extensively, leading workshops across Canada. Roberta also serves as adjunct faculty at Vancouver School of Theology and sits on the International Affairs Committee of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. Her research interests include transformative models of adult education, the pedagogy of Paulo Freire and online teaching and learning. Her articles have been published in both academic journals and church publications. Roberta serves as minister in association with the Vancouver Taiwanese Presbyterian Church (VTPC) in Vancouver’s Kerrisdale neighbourhood.

Committed to adult education in all its forms, Roberta skied for the first time last winter. She enjoys rollerblading, cycling (and almost skiing). She has a teenage son Anton, an aspiring actor, and is married to Dr. James Zacharias of Maple Ridge.
