ST. ANDREW’S DAY

November 30th is set aside as St. Andrew’s Day around the world.  Here at St. Andrew’s Hall we gratefully acknowledge the life and witness of Andrew, a follower of Jesus who became an important leader in the early church.  St. Andrew also holds a special place for Presbyterians (with our Scottish heritage) as the patron saint of Scotland.  (Andrew is also the patron saint of Ukraine as well as fishers and singers!)  At St. Andrew’s Hall, we reach out each year to our broad, international community of supporters on St. Andrew’s Day to through our annual appeal letter here: St. Andrew’s Day appeal letter  Please take a moment to remember St. Andrew’s Hall and our ministries of theological education, equipping congregations for mission, and our hospitality ministries of our 130 bed residence at UBC and corresponding chaplaincy services.  You can support St. Andrew’s Hall directly here:  https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/st-andrews-hall/

A prayer for St. Andrew’s Day from the Church of Scotland:

Almighty God, you gave such grace to your apostle Saint Andrew that he readily obeyed the calling of your Son Jesus Christ and followed him without delay, bringing his brother with him.  Grant us the same spirit of cheerful obedience, that we may give ourselves willingly to share in the witness of your Church to the whole world; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.  Amen.
